Hi Friends!
As we approach the end of another year, it’s important to take a moment to reflect on all that has happened. I love using this time of the year to reflect.
What were your successes? Wher did you fail? What can you learn from both?
This is essential information if you want to set yourself up for success in the coming year. Here are the steps I take:
The first step is to take a comprehensive look at the past year. What were your highlights? Make a list of both your personal and professional accomplishments.
This is a time to be proud of yourself, so don’t be shy! If you’re having trouble thinking of things, ask a friend or family member for help.
Once you have your list, it’s time to reflect on each item.
For each accomplishment, ask yourself what you did well and what you could have done better. For example, let’s say you got a promotion at work. That’s great!
But what did you do that led to that promotion? Maybe you went above and beyond on projects or maybe you networked with the right people. On the other hand, maybe there’s something you could have done better. Maybe you didn’t ask for a raise when you should have or maybe you could have been more proactive in your job search.
For each failure, it’s important to ask yourself what you learned from the experience. Did you make a mistake that you’ll never make again? Did you learn a valuable lesson? It’s also helpful to think about what you could have done differently.
Maybe there was a different path you could have taken or maybe you need to change your approach.
Once you’ve reflected on the past year, it’s time to start thinking about the future. What are your goals for the coming year? Be specific and realistic with your goals. If one of your goals is to get a promotion, what steps do you need to take to make that happen?
If you want to change careers, what can you do to make that happen?
After you’ve set your goals, it’s time to start taking action. Create a plan of attack for each goal. What can you do today, tomorrow, next week, etc., to move closer to your goal?
The more specific and realistic your plan is, the better.
Finally, don’t forget to celebrate your accomplishments!
As you achieve your goals throughout the year, take a moment to reflect on your progress and give yourself a pat on the back. You deserve it!
We hope these tips help you reflect on your year and set yourself up for success in the new one.
Happy reflecting!
xoxo
