How to let go of mom guilt while building a business

As a mom and an entrepreneur, you’re going to feel guilty about not being able to balance everything perfectly.

I get it. I’ve been there and building a business while also taking care of children is a challenging task! II remember not feeling like I’m succeeding at either, especially not at the same time.

However, as I learned over time, it is very important to let go of the mom guilty feeling and focus on what you can do to build your business. There is no such thing as perfection and it’s okay actually that you are unable to balance it all. Some stuff just will have to give and that’s okay.

Here are some tips for how to let go of the mom guilty feeling while building a business.

  1. Prioritize your time

It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that you need to be working on your business all the time in order to succeed. However, it’s important to prioritize your time and make sure that you’re spending enough time with your family as well. Make a schedule and stick to it as much as possible, including designated times for work and family time.

  1. Set realistic expectations

It’s important to set realistic expectations for both yourself and your family. Building a business takes time and effort, and it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to achieve everything you want to right away. Similarly, your family may need to adjust to your new schedule and routine. It’s important to communicate openly and honestly with them about what you’re doing and what they can expect.

  1. Focus on quality over quantity

When it comes to spending time with your family, focus on quality over quantity. It’s better to spend an hour of focused, quality time with your children than to spend three hours distracted and half-present. Similarly, when it comes to your business, focus on quality work over the amount of time you spend on it.

  1. Ask for help

It’s okay to ask for help. Whether it’s from your partner, family members, or friends, don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Building a business while also taking care of your children is a lot of work, and there’s no shame in needing some extra support. you can also outsource! If you’re in a position financially, hiring a nanny, housekeeper or a cleaning or meal prep service can give you more time in the day and week to be more present with your family and yourself. I’m a firm believer in self-care.

  1. Be kind to yourself

Finally, it’s important to be kind to yourself. You’re doing the best you can, and that’s all anyone can ask for. Don’t beat yourself up for not being perfect or for making mistakes along the way. Instead, focus on what you’ve accomplished and what you’re capable of.

The formula for managing it while not beating yourself up is simple: prioritize your time, set realistic expectations, focus on quality over quantity, ask for help when you need it, and be kind to yourself.

With these tips in mind, you can build a successful business while also being a great mom.

You got this mom!

xoxo
